Why is this study important?
Finger injuries are a common emergency department (ED) presenting complaint, and digital blocks are the most common method of providing anesthetic to allow the repair of these injuries. However, there is debate regarding which technique is the least painful and most efficacious. This randomized trial compared 2 methods (injections on both the medial and lateral aspects of the digit entering dorsally versus a single subcutaneous [SC] injection entering in the midline of the volar aspect of the hand) of anesthetizing finger injuries
