Why is this study important?

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common diagnosis for elderly patients with knee or hip pain in the emergency department (ED). Although nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and acetaminophen (paracetamol) are commonly prescribed, there are few effectiveness comparison studies. This network meta-analysis compares most of the commonly used NSAIDs to one another, acetaminophen, and placebo to determine which are the most effective analgesics.
