Why is this study important?
Shoulder dislocations and associated fractures are commonly seen in the emergency department (ED). The clinical diagnosis can be challenging, especially in larger patients and delays to imaging and subsequent treatment can be prolonged. This review assesses the current evidence for point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) primarily for the diagnosis of shoulder dislocation and secondarily for associated fracture.
