Why is this study important?
Group A streptococcal (GAS) pharyngitis is a common clinical problem for which the current United States and European guidelines for adults and children recommend penicillin V for 10 days.[1] [2] Reducing treatment duration to 5 days will decrease the total antibiotic (Abx) exposure and possibly improve compliance without negatively impacting clinical outcomes.
