Sore throat is a common emergency department (ED) and primary care presenting complaint, more so in children (5%) than adults (2%).[1][2][3] Viral pharyngitis is the most common cause and symptom relief is the primary goal of treatment.[3] This is the most recent review of the current evidence for corticosteroid therapy.
